ENCOM? WHAT?

 Assalamualaikum everyone, whatcha doin? I hope you all are doing good. Beforehand, I want to congratulate you for doing this far and berjaya admit ke university pilihan korang (do clap for yourselves). Aku percaya korang yang tengah baca blog aku sekarang ni mesti curious nak tau about what is ENCOM all about. Let me introduce myself, I am Harith and I am a student Bachelor Degree  English Communication at IIUM Pagoh campus on October In Sya Allah. I finished my foundation study at CFS IIUM on July 2021 which is located at Gambang, Pahang.

As you guys can see, this is CFS IIUM Campus Gambang. The place where is all started. Right after korang isi UPU, kalau korang letak Asasi UIAM as your top choice, you guys akan sambung pengajian asasi korang dekat sini. Formerly, pusat Asasi UIAM terletak kat PJ. But now pusat Asasi UIAM dah berpindah ke Gambang. Untuk pengetahuan korang, pusat Asasi UIAM adalah tempat berkumpulnya semua students yang daftar untuk program Asasi. Dari Medic, Engineering, Human Science dan banyak lagi and of course, students yang mendaftar untuk Asasi English Communication juga akan ditempatkan dekat sini. English Communication program adalah di bawah Kuliyyah Language and Management which is berpusat di Pagoh Edu Hub, Johor.

As an English Communication student, I can admit that course ni antara kos yang paling underrated sekali dekat Malaysia. Memang tak famous langsung bila sebut pasal Encom nak diabndingkan dengan TESL ( Teaching Engslish as Second Language) and BENL ( Bachelor of English and Literature). Actually tak banyak universiti di Malaysia yang offer Encom program. Antaranya, Unisza dan IUKL je yang diketahui setakat ni itupun pada level Bachelor Degree lah. That's mean kalau dekat tempat lain korang kena spend over than 2 years of study to finish your Diploma and then baru boleh mohon untuk Degree Encom. TAPI, dekat CFS IIUM korang cuma perlu spend just a year (probably less than that) je untuk sambung ke Degree Encom. Memang betul-betul fast track lah. Korang akan ada 3 semester sepanjang pengajian dekat CFS ni and a semester takes up until 3 months. So tambah tolak semua, lebih kurang 9 months je untuk korang buat persediaan sebelum ke Degree nanti. So, you guys memang kena enjoy lah your foundation year heartfully. Batch 20/21 antara batch yang kira untung jugaklah sebab sempat merasa study dekat kampus Gambang ni. NGL, study kat kampus is thousand times better than ODL. Korang boleh komen kat bawah kalau nak tahu pengalaman sepanjang aku belajar dekat CFS IIUM.

PROS AND CONS about ENCOM Course.

Tipulah kalau aku kata course ni takde pros and cons nya tersendiri. Semua course pasti ada kurang dan lebihnya tak kesahla Engineering ke, Medic ke, Psychology ke semuanya sama. Confirm ada lebih dan kurangnya tersendiri and for this course Pros and Cons are explained below :

 CONS: 

- As an Eglish language major, you are expected to be good in English especially in UIA. It will be very tough if you do not have the passion for learning the language because this course will be full of writing and reading English materials. And yes for this course, requirement for get into English Communication foundation program is at least A- for English subject in SPM (quite high is it ?). And yeah, you might compete with more than hundred thousands of candidates across Malaysia. 

- After you are admitted to CFS IIUM, you must sustain a good result along your study. Let's say you are not getting a good CGPA (the lowest is 2.5) and failing it twice, you have no other options but to be dismissed from CFS. Kena buang weh. Then, you have to start again maybe with a Diploma to get into ur Degree. 

- The location of KLM Campus is in Pagoh. It is not in Gombak ye. Pagoh is a remote village area near to Muar and it is approximately about 15 KM away from there. You will be quite far from big cities and malls. Suitable for those yang mmg malas nak keluar duit banyak buat benda lagha. Melaka city is around 45 KM from there. Untuk beli basic necessities, ada je 99 speedmart, pasar raya dekat area Pagoh jaya, Pasar Malam (2KM from the campus). We are the neighbour of UTHM. Memang dekat sangat korang boleh jalan kaki untuk pegi kafe sana. Sana banyak kedai makan and cafe since students diorang lagi ramai dari UIA.

PROS:

- In this course, you will be exposed with a mix of journalism, marketing, writing, speaking and many more. Tersangatlah best ye lagi2 untuk jenis orang yang suka menonjolkan diri dan nak improve social skills. Some of the subjects that will be taken are Basic Physchology, Academic Writing, Basic ICT, Persuasive Speech, International Communication, Linguistic and many more. 

- To be a graduate of English Communication, you will have a broad of career field. I have seen a lot of our seniors now working with huge and well known companies like ByteDance (TikTok), Shopee, Petronas, Astro and say it all. Some of them work as Communication Executive, Human Resource and  Public Relation.Harith Iskander, The King of Malaysia Stand Up Comedian also a graduate of Communication from Curtin University. What I am trying to say here, as long as you are passionate in your career, nothing can stop you. You shape whatever you want to be.

- For this course, you will only need to sit only a few of examinations, still ada tapi tak banyak. As we all acknowledge, ENCOM is a communication based course hence the students will be evaluated  by their work quality, most of time (Presentations and Assignments, a lot). But dont take it for granted, it still can be difficult if youre not put enough effort ya. Bear it in mind.
